Have you ever wondered how many glasses you can actually pour out of a bottle of champagne? Let’s uncover this bubbly question together.
The Standard Champagne Bottle
A standard champagne bottles, known in the industry as a ‘split’, usually has a capacity of 750ml. This is the traditional size of most wine bottles and provides plenty of champagne for your celebration.
Pouring by the glass
The number of glasses you can pour from a bottle of Champagne depends on the size of the glass. The following are general guidelines:
Flute glass: the classic choice for champagne, the flute glass usually has a capacity of between 150 and 180 ml. By this standard, you can expect to pour about 4 to 5 glasses from a standard bottle of Champagne.
Shallow Saucer: Reminiscent of the shallow saucers of the 1920s, they have a larger capacity than the flute glass, usually between 180 and 240 ml. A bottle of champagne may only fill 3 or 4 shallow saucers.
White wine glass: with a capacity close to 240 ml, you may get slightly fewer pours compared to a shallow saucer glass, around 3 to 4 glasses.
Bigger Bottles
For those grand occasions, Champagne is also available in larger bottles, such as magnums (1.5 litres), emperors (3 litres) and even bibles (6 litres). These bottles can significantly increase the number of glasses poured and are perfect for sharing with larger groups.
